-Sweet won the 1958 NYS Freshman Cross Country title.

-He was given All American honors in 1959 by finishing 14th in NCAA Cross Country Championships.

-He won the Niagara District AAU cross country title in 1959.

-As a Freshman, Sweet was undefeated in dual meets.
