The senior electrical engineering major had his four-year career as a pole vaulter cut short due to the cancelation of the 2020 outdoor season.  Sayles was a team leader and had a strong indoor season, placing fifth at the Houghton Invitational and then an 11th place showing at the SUNYAC Championships.  Sayles finished ninth in his event at the 2019 Outdoor SUNYAC Championships.
