(BOX SCORE)

ONEONTA, NY—Buffalo State (0-3/0-1) could not pull off the last second heroics in a game that featured 10 lead changes, falling 73-72 in its SUNYAC opener against Oneonta (4-2/2-0) tonight at Dewar Arena.

Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) led the Bengals with 17 points and four assists. James Tyndal (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) had 15 points. Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Glenroy Carr (Amherst/Sweet Home) also scored 11.

Despite trailing by eight with 1:30 remaining, Buffalo State had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but Tyndal's last-second layup was blocked. The Bengals led, 34-33, at the intermission, but Oneonta grabbed a lead it would not relinquish with 10:29 remaining. The Bengals made things interesting, scoring the final eight points of the game.

Buffalo State will continue its SUNYAC-opening road trip tomorrow at New Paltz with a 4 p.m. tip-off.
