BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (5-1) netted three first-half goals to win its fourth-straight game, shutting out visiting Daemen (0-5), 3-0, in a non-conference game today at Coyer Field.
Peter Anthony (Marietta/Tully) opened the scoring for the Bengals in the 14th minute. Following a Daemen hand ball in the box,
Tony Schiappa (Williamsville/Williamsville East) extended the lead on a penalty kick.
Derrek Basile (Pennelville/John C. Birdlebough) completed the scoring in the final minute of the first half.
The Bengals controlled the game for the opening whistle, outshooting the Wildcats, 17-10.
Dan Corti (Amawalk/Somers) and freshman
Ryan Wiehl (Cortland/Cortland) combined for the shutout, with Wiehl making three second-half saves.
Buffalo State will return to action at home next Saturday with the SUNYAC opener against Brockport at 4 p.m.
