BUFFALO, NY—
Steve Orfanos (East Meadow/East Meadow) had two goals and an assist as Buffalo State (2-1) trounced Hilbert (1-2), 9-0, today in the opening game of the Buffalo State All-America Classic. The game marked the first official contest on the newly renovated A-Turf surface on Coyer Field.
Andy Donner (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) scored twice, and
Tony Schiappa (Williamsville/Williamsville East),
Brandon Loncar (Kenmore/Kenmore East) and
AJ Johnson (Buffalo/Kenmore East) each had a goal and an assist.
Joatan Humphries (Lawrence/Lawrence) and Mike Bolan (Endwell/Seton Catholic) also scored for the Bengals.
Derrek Basile (Pennelville/John Birdlebough) added three assists.
Buffalo State dominated from the opening touch, racing out to a 4-0 lead and outshooting Hilbert, 20-1 in the opening half. The second frame saw more of the same, as the Bengals finished with a 36-1 advantage in shots.
Hilbert will play SUNYIT tomorrow at 5 p.m., and Buffalo State will host SUNYIT on Sunday at 1 p.m.
