CORTLAND, NY— Cortland (5-7/2-3) overcame an 13-point first-half deficit to defeat Buffalo State (4-8/2-3), 79-70, in a SUNYAC contest tonight at the Corey Gym. Cortland snapped its four-game losing streak as Buffalo State's three-game winning streak also came to an end.
#A.J. White# (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) led the Bengals with 20 points.
James Tyndal (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) had 19 points and four assists, and
Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) scored 10.
Antonio Speed (Buffalo/East) added six points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Buffalo State jumped out to 25-12 lead in the first half, but Cortland rallied and trailed just 34-31 at the intermission. The Bengals went ahead by seven in the second half, before a 21-6 run by the Red Dragons put the home team in front by eight. Buffalo State evened the score at 62-62 to close regulation when Tyndal hit two free throws with 10.8 seconds remaining. Cortland never trailed in the overtime, however, and pulled away with the win.
Buffalo State will return home on Friday to host Morrisville at 8 p.m.
