Men’s Basketball Surges Past Oswego, 92-85

Glenroy Carr had a career-best 21 points

BUFFALO, NY—The sophomore duo of Antonio Speed (Buffalo/East) and Glenroy Carr (Amherst/Sweet Home) both had career games and a big second half propelled Buffalo State (6-8/4-3) past visiting Oswego (8-5/4-2), 92-85, in a SUNYAC matchup this afternoon at the Sports Arena.

Speed had career best with 23 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks, and Carr also had all career highs with 21 points, nine boards and four blocks. James Tyndal (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) netted 18 points, and #A.J. White# (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) and Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) added 10 points each.

Stanley Francois (Valley College/Cobleskill) led the Lakers with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Connor Monaghan (Booklyn/Xavier) scored 14 points. Tommy Downing (Staten Island/Curtis) had 12 points and 10 assists. Chad Burridge (Hannibal/Hannibal) scored 12 points and had eight blocks, and Kyle Reuter (Mexico/Mexico) added 12 points.

Oswego closed a fast-paced first half with a 48-45 lead after the Bengals scored the final four points in the last 30 seconds. Buffalo State carried the momentum into the second period, and opened the frame with a 20-8 run. The Lakers cut the deficit to four once, but never mounted a sustained threat. Buffalo State outscored the Lakers 24-12 in second chance points. Oswego hit nine 3-pointers, compared to none by the Bengals.

Buffalo State will host Geneseo next Saturday at 8 p.m.
