BUFFALO, NY—Sophomore
Antonio Speed (Buffalo/East) posted new career highs with 19 points and 13 rebounds to pace Buffalo State (3-7/1-2) to its first league win over the season, 83-63, over visiting Potsdam (5-5/2-1) in a SUNYAC contest tonight at the Sports Arena.
Jamar Gray (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) added 15 points and five steals for the Bengals,
James Tyndal (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) scored 13 point, and #A.J. White# (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) pitched in 12 in the winning effort.
Damon Brown (Brooklyn/Port Richmond) led Potsdam with 25 points, and Alvin Dike (Bronx/Msgr. Scanlon) had 15 points and four steals.
The Bengals raced out to a 24-10 advantage and maintained a 37-27 lead at halftime. Potsdam cut the deficit to seven midway through the second half, but Buffalo State quickly responded with a 7-0 run and did not look back. Buffalo State outscored Potsdam in the paint, 44-28, and 18-2 on the fast break.
Plattsburgh will visit the Sports Arena tomorrow for another league game at 4 p.m.
