BUFFALO, NY—Nationally eighth-ranked Oswego (2-1/1-0) raced out to a four-goal lead and coasted to a 4-1 victory over host Buffalo State (0-2-1/0-1) in the SUNYAC season-opener tonight at the Ice Arena.
The Lakers netted a pair of goals in the closing minutes of the opening period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Oswego pushed its lead to 4-0 with two more quick goals early in the second, before
Nicholas Petriello (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) put the Bengals on the board with assists from
Connor King (Nashville, TN/Brentwood) and
Sean Murray (Burlington, ON/Notre Dame) to complete the scoring.
Oswego outshot Buffalo State, 38-26, as
Alan Fritch (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) made 34 stops for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will host another conference-rival Cortland tomorrow at 7 p.m.
