BUFFALO, NY—Brockport (4-6/3-6) piled up 726 yards of total offense including 488 in the air and scored on four plays of 66 yards or longer in a 48-30 win over host Buffalo State (2-8/2-7) in the season finale I-90 Bowl today at Coyer Field.

Senior quarterback Jake Graci (Farnham/Lakeshore) led the Golden Eagles, going 25 of 39 for 404 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. Hector Rosas (Angola/Lakeshore) had six catches for 142 yards and a touchdown, and Matt Newman (Unadilla/Unatego) caught five balls for 188 yards and a score. Tamere Shannon (Buffalo/McKinley) added three catches for 32 yards and a score and also threw a touchdown pass. Aaron Zurn (Sidney/Sidney) led the ground game with 21 carries for 172 yards and found the end zone twice. Derek DeCandia (Beacon/Beacon) and Nathan Bull (Brockport/Brockport) each had 10 tackles for Brockport.

Senior Sammy Smith (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) led Buffalo State with a career-high 112 yards on 16 carries and had a pair of touchdowns, and also had four catches for 32 yards. Freshman Ryan Lehotsky (N. Royalton, OH/N. Royalton) also had a career-high 309 passing yards, going 23 of 39, but had four interceptions. Matt Pacana (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) and Eddie Weiser (Grand Island/Grand Island) led the defense with 12 and 11 tackles respectively.

After being forced to punt on its opening two possessions, Brockport scored the next five times it touched the ball and racked up 493 yards of total offense in the opening 30 minutes of play, taking a 34-3 lead into halftime. The Bengals rallied in the second half, finding the end zone four times, but could not complete the comeback.

Zurn opened the scoring with an 81-yard run midway through the opening quarter. After Buffalo State closed the gap to 7-3 on a 32-yard field goal by Nick Debbins (Lancaster/Lancaster), Brockport pulled away.

The Golden Eagles converted their second-consecutive one-play drive when Graci hit Rosas for an 88-yard catch and run. Graci capped a 15-play, 91-yard drive on the next possession when he found Shannon in the back of the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown strike.

Shannon was on the other end of Brockport's next score, throwing a bomb on a reverse pass to Newman that covered 84 yards. Graci tossed his third touchdown of the game to a fifth Golden Eagle to find the end zone late in the period to complete the opening half scoring, connecting with Filipe Diaz (Syracuse/Onondaga) for a 20-yard score.

Brockport's second offensive play of the second half resulted in another long score when Graci hit Newman for a 66-yard catch and run.

Buffalo State cut the deficit to 41-24 after back-to-back rushing touchdowns by Smith from 1 and 31 yards and a 55-yard fumble recovery returned to the house by Eric France (Bronx/Cardinal Hayes).

Zurn reeled in a 14-yard touchdown catch from Graci in the fourth quarter to provide some insurance for Brockport before the Bengals added a late score on a 1-yard run by Lehotsky.
