BUFFALO, NY—Medaille (1-0) jumped out to a 34-21 lead at the intermission and pulled away for an 80-48 win over visiting Buffalo State (0-1) in the season-opener tonight at the Sullivan Center.

Freshman Kristin Ritch (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) scored a team-high nine points to lead Buffalo State. Divine Sebuharara (Vestal/Vestal) added eight points and nine rebounds, and freshman Staci McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) netted seven points. 

After leading by 13 at the half, Medaille opened the second period witha 15-4 run and never looked back.  The Mavericks shot 47-percent from the field for the game, compared to just 22-percent by the Bengals.  

Buffalo State will host the Betty Abgott Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The Bengals will open the tourney on Friday at 3 p.m. against the Sage Colleges. Alfred and Hartwick will square off in the tourney's opening game at 1 p.m.
