FREDONIA, NY—Penn State Behrend (3-0-1) overcame an early deficit to defeat Buffalo State (2-3) 2-1 this afternoon in the opening game of the Fredonia Classic.
Mike Bolan (Endwell/Seton Catholic) opened the scoring for Buffalo State with an unassisted tally in the 22nd minute, but the Lions netted the equalizer just 1:43 later. Penn State Behrend added the game-winner in the 63rd minute.
The Lions held a narrow 12-10 advantage in shots.
Ryan Wiehl (Riverside, CA/Cortland) made two saves in goal for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will conclude the Fredonia Classic tomorrow with a contest against St. Joseph of Long Island at 3 p.m.
