BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (4-3-1/0-0-1) and Fredonia (3-3-1/0-0-1) opened SUNYAC play at Coyer Field today, but after 110 minutes of play, neither team could find the back of the net as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
Fredonia controlled much of the play in regulation time, but the Bengals dictated the action in the two overtime periods, outshooting the Blue Devils 5-0 in the extra sessions. Buffalo State thought it had the game won midway through the first overtime, but an apparent goal was called back due to a foul on the Bengals.
Buffalo State finished the game with a slight 8-6 edge in shots.
Brian Dudek (Niskayuna/Cheshire Academy) made three saves for the shutout for Buffalo State, and Thom Cavanaugh (Slingerlands/Voorheesville) had two stops for Fredonia.
Buffalo State next plays New Paltz in another SUNYAC battle next Friday at 4 p.m.
