BROCKPORT, NY—Buffalo State (8-8/0-2) opened the first round of SUNYAC Pool Play at Brockport with a pair of losses, falling in five sets to Geneseo and in straight set against Fredonia.

Geneseo outlasted the Bengals in the opening match, 26-24, 20-25, 25-18, 24-26 and 15-8. Bree McMahon (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) had 28 digs and two aces for the Bengals. Danielle Aurelio-Clark (Lancaster/Lancaster) had 38 assists, and Katie Sember (Buffalo/Kenmore West) pounded out 14 kills.

Fredonia topped Buffalo State in the late match 25-20, 25-21 and 25-12. McMahon had eight kills and 13 digs, and Aurelio-Clark had 19 assists.

Buffalo State will conclude the first round of pool play tomorrow against Oswego and host Brockport.
