BROCKPORT, NY—Buffalo State (9-9/1-3) pushed Brockport to the limit today before falling in five sets and bounced back to sweep Oswego to complete the first round of SUNYAC Pool Play.
Brockport held off a hard-charging Bengals' attack in the morning match, 25-16, 28-26, 26-28, 23-25 and 15-11.
Bree McMahon (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) had a team-best 16 kills and 21 digs to lead the Bengals.
Danielle Aurelio-Clark (Lancaster/Lancaster) had 42 assists, and
Katelyn Grew (Lackawanna/Mt. Mercy) added nine kills, two aces and two blocks.
Buffalo State raced past Oswego in the late match, winning 25-14, 25-17 and 25-21. McMahon had 12 kills to lead the Bengals' offense again. Aurelio-Clark dished out 32 assists, and
Katie Sember (Buffalo/Kenmore West) had 10 kills and three blocks.
Buffalo State will play its first home match of the season on Tuesday against Alfred at 7 p.m.
