CORTLAND, NY—Buffalo State (1-2) earned its first win of the season, topping Baptist Bible in straight sets after falling in three to host Cortland to open the Red Dragon Classic this evening.
The Bengals pushed Cortland in the opener, but fell 21-25, 23-25 and 18-25.
Bree McMahon (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) had a team-high 17 digs, while
Danielle Aurelio-Clark (Lancaster/Lancaster) had 18 assists.
Katie Sember (Buffalo/Kenmore West) and
Allyson Pierce (Olcott/Newfane) added five kills each.
The Bengals bounced back in the late match, sweeping Baptist Bible, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-15. Aurelio-Clark served up five aces and had 25 assists, and McMahon recorded 19 digs and had seven kills.
Buffalo State will conclude the Cortland Red Dragon Classic tomorrow with a pair of matches.
