ONEONTA, NY—Oneonta (12-2/5-2) hit a jumper at the buzzer to hand visiting Buffalo State (4-7/2-3) a 76-74 defeat in a SUNYAC contest today at Dewar Arena.
All five starters scored in double-figures for Buffalo State, but the Bengals only got five points off the bench. #T.O. Jackson# (Bronx/Bronx Regional) led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) had 17 points.
Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) netted 13 points and grabbed six boards, and
Norman Simmons (Rochester/East) and
Glenroy Carr (Buffalo/Sweet Home) scored 11 and 10 respectively.
Oneonta jumped out to a 19-7 lead and was still ahead 38-32 at the break. The Bengals continued to battle back and led on three separate occasions in the second period, before finding themselves behind 74-71 in the closing seconds.
Jake Simmons evened the score at 74-74 with eight seconds, sinking three free throws after being fouled on a long-range shot attempt. The Red Dragons had an immediate response, however, running the floor and connecting on the game-winning jumper at the horn.
Buffalo State will host Geneseo in another SUNYAC matchup on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
