Cortland Cools Off Men’s Basketball, 68-54

CORTLAND, NY--Cortland (9-6/5-3) limited Buffalo State (6-8/4-4) to its lowest offensive output of the season en route to a 68-54 home victory in a SUNYAC game today at the Whitney T. Corey Gymnasium.

Just two Bengals scored in double-figures, led by Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) with 11 points and four blocked shots. #T.O. Jackson# (Bronx/Bronx Regional) added 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Norman Simmons (Rochester/East) chipped in nine points.

Cortland closed the opening half with a 9-1 run to carry a 41-24 lead into the intermission. Buffalo State cut the deficit to just four at 52-48 with just over 10 minutes to play in the second frame, but Cortland outscored the Bengals 16-6 the rest of the way. Buffalo State shot just 31-percent from the field and 16-percent (3 of 19) from 3-point range. The Bengals fell short of their season scoring average by 18 points.

Buffalo State next host Brockport on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on tape delay on Time Warner SportsNet 13.
