BUFFALO, NY—Brockport (12-4/8-1) launched a balanced scoring attack and never trailed, holding off host Buffalo State (6-9/4-5), 74-68, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.
Jermaine Johnson (Long Island City/LI Lutheran) led the Golden Eagles with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Brockport also got 35 points off the bench, including 12 apiece from Zack McTigue (East Aurora/East Aurora) and Anthony Hall (Penfield/Palmyra-Macedon), and Andy Marchand (Rochester/CG Finney) scored 10 points.
Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) led Buffalo State with 15 points. #T.O. Jackson# (Bronx/Bronx Regional) had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) and
Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Bishop Timon) added 12 and 10 points respectively.
Brockport led wire-to-wire and held a 40-33 lead at the intermission. The Bengals closed the gap to 44-43 early in the second frame, but the Golden Eagles pushed the advantage back to as many as 13 at 64-51. The Bengals cut the lead back to three twice, but could not pull even. Brockport outscored Buffalo State 24-12 off turnovers, capitalizing on the Bengals' 25 miscues.
Buffalo State will next host Fredonia on Friday at 8 p.m.
