BUFFALO, NY— Buffalo State (2-5/1-1) was 7 of 10 from 3-point range and
Glenroy Carr (Buffalo/Sweet Home) had 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Bengals beat Plattsburgh (7-3/2-1), 90-87 in overtime, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) led Buffalo State with 24 points. #T.O. Jackson# (Bronx/Bronx Regional) added 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) scored 12 points, and
Norman Simmons (Buffalo/East) had 11.
Five Cardinals also scored in double-figures, led by Chris Ruiz's (Bronx/St. Agnes) 23 points and 11 rebounds. Errol Daniyan (Coram/Longwood) added 20 points and eight boards, and Steve Thomas (Plattsburgh/Clinton CC) netted 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Danny Tangney (Chester/Monroe-Woodbury) had 11 points, and RJ Ponesse (Wallkill/Wallkill) chipped in 10.
Plattsburgh raced out to an 8-2 lead in the first 1:44, but the Bengals neutralized the Cardinals on the break and carried a 42-39 lead into the intermission. The lead traded hands several times in the second half, before Tangney hit a 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining to knot the score at 76-76 and force overtime. The Bengals led by as many as six in the extra session and held on for the win.
Buffalo State will host Potsdam tomorrow at 4 p.m. for another league contest, and Plattsburgh will play at Fredonia.
