OSWEGO, NY—Buffalo State (12-16/3-3) rallied to defeat host Oswego (9-18/0-6) in four sets, and put up a fight before falling in five against Fredonia (19-10/6-0) in the late match of the opening day of the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play.

After dropping the first set of the opening match to the host Lakers, the Bengals rallied to rip off three straight at claim victory, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-18. Rachel Algbedo (Yonkers/Yonkers) led the Buffalo State attack with a career-high 14 kills, while Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo/City Honors) had 40 assists, and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) chipped in 25 digs.

Buffalo State attempted to rally again in the late match, but ultimately fell, 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17 and 12-15. Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) led Buffalo State with 11 kills, Kazmierczak had 28 assists, and Moore had 22 digs.

Buffalo State will conclude the SUNYAC regular season in Oswego tomorrow against Geneseo at noon at Brockport at 2 p.m.
