CORTLAND, NY—Buffalo State (2-9/0-5) attempted to mount a late rally, but it fell short against host Cortland (5-8-1/3-2), 2-1, in a SUNYAC contest this evening.
Cortland opened up a 2-0 lead with markers in the 39th and 72nd minutes.
Greg Anderson (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) cut the deficit in half with a blast from 35 yards in the 77th minute for his second goal of the season. The Bengals' applied pressure in the closing minutes looking for the equalizer, but could not on convert several late chances.
Cortland had a 20-16 edge in shots for the game.
Brian Dudek (Niskayuna/Cheshire Academy) made five saves to keep the Bengals within striking distance.
Buffalo State will finally play its first home game of the season this Tuesday against RIT at 4 p.m.
