BUFFALO, NY— Antonio Samedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) had 16 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks as Buffalo State (9-12/7-8) pull away from visiting New Paltz (11-12/7-9) for an 83-69 win in a SUNYAC game today at the Sports Arena.

Samedi broke Buffalo State's single-season record for blocks with 65 in just 18 games and is currently among the NCAA Division III leaders in that category.

Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) netted a game-high 21 points to bolster the Bengals' offensive attack. Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Bishop Timon) added 16 points off the bench, and #T.O. Jackson# (Bronx/Bronx Regional) had 11 points and nine boards.

Jayquan Anderson (Bronx/Frederick Douglas) led New Paltz with 25 points and nine rebounds. Harris Wichard (Merrick/Bellmore JFK) tallied 21 points and eight boards, and Shereef Taylor (Hyde Park/FDR) had 13 points.

Buffalo State claimed an eight-point lead late in the opening half, but the Hawks scored eight of the final 10 points of the period to cut the Bengals' lead to 39-37 at the intermission. After four lead changes early in the second half, Buffalo State assembled a 16-2 run to take a lead it would never relinquish. The Bengals outscored New Paltz 23-8 off turnovers, capitalizing on 18 Hawks' miscues.

Buffalo State will next travel to Brockport on Tuesday for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
