PLATTSBURGH, NY—Buffalo State (8-6) defeated the host Cardinals 3-1 to place fifth at the eight-team Plattsburgh Classic today, after falling in straight sets to St. Lawrence in the early match.
St. Lawrence powered past the Bengals in the day's opening match, winning 25-16, 25-15 and 25-19.
Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo/City Honors) had 13 assists for the Buffalo State,
Allyson Pierce (Olcott/Newfane) had five kills, and
Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) had 10 digs.
Buffalo State topped Plattsburgh in the final match of the tourney, 25-20, 25-17, 22-25 and 26-24.
Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) led the Bengals with 12 kills. Kazmierczak was named to the All-Tournament Team after registering 41 assists and three aces. Moore added 13 digs.
Buffalo State will return to the Sports Arena on Wednesday night to face cross-town rival Daemen at 7 p.m.
