Women’s Volleyball Ends First Pool Play at .500

Stephanie Kazmierczak and Allyson Pierce led the Bengals to a 2-2 weekend

GENESEO, NY—Buffalo State (10-9/2-2) closed out the first round of SUNYAC Pool Play in third-place in the West Division, despite a pair of straight set losses today to host Geneseo and Fredonia.

Geneseo topped Buffalo State in the morning match, 25-15, 25-22 and 25-16. Allyson Pierce (Olcott/Newfane) and Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) each had eight kills for the Bengals. Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo/City Honors) had 24 assists, and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) had eight digs.

Fredonia rolled in the second match, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-19. Kazmierczak had 19 assists, five blocks and two aces to pace Buffalo State. McLean and Paige Ottaviano (Pt. Colborne, ON/Lakeshore Catholic) had five kills each.

Buffalo State will next host D'Youville on Tuesday. The Bengals will compete in the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play on Oct. 22-23.
