PLATTSBURGH, NY—Buffalo State (9-5/4-4) overcame a 15-point second-half deficit to lead with less than two minutes remaining, but host Plattsburgh (10-5/6-2) reclaimed the lead at the free throw line and held on for an 80-76 victory today at Memorial Hall.

Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) had career-bests with 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead Buffalo State. Jake Simmons (Rochester/School for the Arts) also netted 22 points, and Glenroy Carr (New York/Sweet Home) had 15 points.

Plattsburgh led 43-30 at halftime and then pushed to lead to 15, before Buffalo State stormed back and took the lead at 71-70 with 2:01 remaining. The Cardinals scored next, however, and never looked back, closing the game going 10 of 10 from the free throw line in the final 1:42. The difference in the game proved to be Plattsburgh's depth, as the Cardinals' bench outscored Buffalo State's, 53-13.

Buffalo State will host Brockport on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
