BUFFALO, NY—Sophomore
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School for the Arts) netted a career-best 30 points and Buffalo State (10-5/5-4) capitalized on a fast start to cruise past visiting Brockport (7-9/5-4), 78-66, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.
Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bengals, and
Norman Simmons (Rochester/East) had 10 points and four assists.
After trailing in the opening seconds, Buffalo State jumped out to a 17-7 lead and never looked back. The Bengals led 32-18 at the intermission, limiting Brockport to just 19-percent shooting from the field in the opening 20 minutes. The Bengals led by as many as 28 in the second half and coasted to the 12-point win.
Buffalo State will travel to Oswego on Friday for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
