Fredonia Outlasts Men’s Soccer, 2-1

Phil Pinzone scored the Bengals only goal
(BOX SCORE)

BUFFALO, NY—Phil Pinzone (Buffalo/Kenmore East) scored in the 83rd minute for Buffalo State (5-3-2/0-3) to bring the Bengals within one, but it wasn't enough as Fredonia (8-4/1-2) outlasted the Bengals, 2-1, in a SUNYAC today at Coyer Field.

Fredonia's Luke Tylutki scored the Blue Devils first goal at the 31:01 mark of the first half when he capitalized on a miscommunication in the Bengals' defensive end, getting a foot on the ball and touching it past Buffalo State goalkeeper Ben Spilman (Queensbury/Glens Falls).  Tyler Williams gave Fredonia a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute when his shot hit inside the near post and bounced in.  Pinzone intercepted an attempted clear by the Blue Devils and hit a shot that rocketed past Fredonia's A.J. Grecco and into the upper left corner of the net to give the Bengals their lone goal.

Eight yellow cards were handed out with a total of 37 fouls committed in a physical game in which Buffalo State held a 15-6 advantage in shots.  Grecco had six saves for Fredonia, while Spilman recorded none.

Buffalo State remains at home and will host Cortland Friday at 4 p.m.
