PLATTSBURGH, NY—Kirk Love (Hamburg/Frontier) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season, but it was not enough as Buffalo State (6-6-2/1-6) was officially eliminated from SUNYAC playoff contention with a 3-1 loss at host Plattsburgh this afternoon.

The Cardinals opened the scoring in just the ninth minute, but Love evened the score early in the second half with an assist from Tony Schiappa (Williamsville/Williamsville East).  The tie lasted only 11 seconds, however, when Plattsburgh took the lead for good on a ball headed into the back of the net.  The Cardinals added an insurance marker in the 69th minute.

Plattsburgh outshot Buffalo State, 15-8.  Ben Spilman (Queensbury/Glens Falls) made five saves in the loss for the Bengals.

Buffalo State will next host Nazareth in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
