Chris Cartwright (Binghamton/Binghamton) scored a career-high 39 points including five in the last minute of the second overtime, as Buffalo State (12-6/7-5) defeated host Geneseo (8-10/2-9), 101-94, in a SUNYAC game tonight at Schrader Gym.
Cartwright finally gave the Bengals the lead for good with 59 seconds left on the clock in the second overtime period and added two more free throws down the stretch.
Glenroy Carr (New York/Sweet Home) and
Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) scored 15 points each.
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School for the Arts) added 11 points, despite going 5 of 25 from the field and 0 of 10 from 3-point range.
Ahmed Nagaya (Bronx/Astor) chipped in 10 points.
Buffalo State trailed 38-25 at the break, but chipped away in the second half and forced overtime tied at 75-75. The Bengals scored the first five points of the first overtime, but this time Geneseo battled back and forced another period, evening the score at 86-86. Buffalo State ripped off 15 points in the final extra session to surpass the 100-point mark for the second time this season against Geneseo.
Buffalo State will host Oneonta on Friday at 8 p.m.
