FREDONIA, NY—
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School for the Arts) netted a career-high 38 points to lift Buffalo State (15-6/10-5) to a 92-79 overtime victory at Fredonia (6-15/3-12) in a SUNYAC contest tonight at Steele Hall.
Simmons was 11 of 19 from the field, including 6 of 11 from 3-point range, and was 10 of 12 from the charity stripe.
Chris Cartwright (Binghamton/Binghamton) and
Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) added 14 points each for the Bengals.
Norman Simmons (Rochester/East) added seven points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
Buffalo State led 39-34 at the intermission. Fredonia took the lead in the latter part of the second half and led by five with less than a minute remaining in regulation. The Bengals rallied however, as
Norman Simmons hit a trey with 34 seconds remaining, and
Jake Simmons converted a Fredonia turnover into the game-tying layup with 10 ticks left on the clock. The Bengals carried the momentum into the extra period, running to the 13-point win.
Buffalo State will play at Brockport on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
