BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (18-6/13-5) wrapped up the regular season with its eighth-consecutive victory, defeating visiting Potsdam (8-17/7-11), 81-70, in a SUNYAC contest today at the Sports Arena.
Chris Cartwright (Binghamton/Binghamton) paced Buffalo State's attack with 22 points, six assists and six steals.
Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) poured in 21 points and had eight rebounds, and
Jake Simmons (Rochester/School for the Arts) added 20 points.
Glenroy Carr (New York/Sweet Home), the team's lone senior, had 12 points and nine boards in his final regular season home game.
Buffalo State never trailed in the game and held a 46-36 advantage at the break. Potsdam cut the deficit to five early in the second half, but the Bengals pushed the lead back to double-digits and never let the Bears threaten again. Buffalo State shot 49-percent from the field for the game.
Buffalo State enters the SUNYAC playoffs at the second seed and will host No. 7 Cortland in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
