CORTLAND, NY—Buffalo State (0-2) opened its first season under head coach Maria DePeters with a pair of losses tonight, falling to host Cortland (2-0) in straight sets, before losing in four sets to Stockton (3-1), in the opening round of the Red Dragon Classic.

Cortland swept Buffalo State, 25-22, 25-16 and 25-16. Freshman Sam Parente (Bellport/E. Patchogue) led the Bengals' attack with eight kills. Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) had six kills and six blocks, Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) added 22 assists, and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) recorded 12 digs.

Buffalo State dropped the late match to Stockton, 14-25, 25-23, 12-25 and 16-25. Bashore had 23 assists and 11 digs in the losing effort, and Moore added 17 digs, while Parente pounded out 11 kills.

Buffalo State will conclude the Red Dragon Classic tomorrow in the Silver Pool beginning at 10 a.m.
