BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (8-11/4-0) emerged from the first round of SUNYAC West Pool Play after a stunning five-set come-from-behind victory over Brockport and then a straight-sets win over Oswego today at the Sports Arena. The 4-0 record in conference play marks the best start in school history.

In the day's opening match against Brockport, the Bengals rallied from a 9-1 fifth-set deficit to claim victory, 22-25, 25-17, 25-15, 14-25 and 15-13. Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) paced Buffalo State with 42 assists and added seven kills and nine digs. Paige Ottaviano (Pt. Colborne, ON/Lakeshore Catholic) had a team-best 13 kills, while Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) anchored the defense with 15 digs. Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) chipped in nine kills, and Ali Vance (East Aurora/East Aurora) added 12 digs.

Buffalo State cruised past Oswego in the late match, 25-14, 25-15 and 25-18. Parente led the Bengals' attack with eight kills, and Ashley Walck (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) had six kills. Bashore dished out 20 assists and had four blocks.

Buffalo State will visit Daemen for a non-conference match-up on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
