PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Johnson & Wales (9-3-2) scored with 38 seconds remaining to earn a 4-3 victory over Buffalo State (7-6-2) in a non-conference game this evening at the Blackstone Valley Sports Center.
Each team scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the opening period, with Buffalo State battling back twice to even the score.
Mike Connolly (Shoreham, NY/Sault Area) got the Bengals on the board, and
Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) scored a power-play goal to knot the score at 2-2.
Kyle Whipple (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West) gave Buffalo State its first lead of the game with just over five minutes remaining in the second period, but the Wildcats tied the score just over four minutes later, before netting the winner late in the third.
Buffalo State outshot Johnson & Wales, 35-28, including 12-4 in the first period.
Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) had 24 stops for the Bengals. Buffalo State finished 2 for 5 on the power play, and the Wildcats were 1 for 6.
Buffalo State and Johnson & Wales will face off again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
