Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) had a goal and an assist, but Buffalo State (8-7-2) fell short at Hobart (9-7-0) in a 4-2 loss in a non-conference game tonight at the “The Cooler.”

Nick Melligan (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) opened the scoring for Buffalo State with his fourth goal of the season midway through the second period. The Statesmen evened the score with a 5-on-3 goal with just with just 26 seconds left in the period. Hobart then took the lead just 26 seconds into the third stanza and pushed the lead to 3-1 1:28 later. McKinney cut the deficit to one with his 13th goal of the season with 2:32 remaining, but Hobart completed the scoring with a shorthanded empty-netter with 34 ticks left on the clock.
The Statesmen outshot the Bengals 37-22 for the game.
Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) had 33 stops between the pipes for Buffalo State.
Buffalo State will resume SUNYAC play this Friday at home against Geneseo at 7 p.m.
