New Paltz Holds Off Men’s Soccer, 2-1

Box Score MARLBORO, NY—New Paltz (9-7-1/3-5-0) scored two second half goals and was able to hold off Buffalo State (1-14-1/0-7-1) to earn a 2-1 victory in a SUNYAC game this evening.

After a scoreless first half, the Hawks took advantage of a scramble in front of the Buffalo State goal and took a 1-0 lead just ten minutes into the second period.  New Paltz extended its lead with its second goal of the game at 61:22.  Buffalo State's Chris Haney (Williamsville/Williamsville East) scored the Bengals' lone goal after drawing a foul in the box and converting on the penalty kick with 40 seconds left in the game to close out all scoring.

New Paltz held a 27-10 advantage in shots and Ian Huntoon (Stamford, CT/West Hill) had two saves in the loss.

Buffalo State will close out its conference schedule at Oneonta tomorrow at 1 p.m.
