BUFFALO, NY—By virtue of its undefeated conference regular season, Buffalo State has earned the right to host the State University New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Volleyball Championships this Friday through Sunday at the Sports Arena.  The Bengals, who claimed the SUNYAC West regular season title, earned a bye into the semifinals and will play at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The Bengals are currently 25-7 overall, the third-highest win total in school history (28 in 1993 and 27 in 2001), and the most victories since 2001.  By clinching the West division with a perfect 6-0 conference mark, Buffalo State automatically advances to the semifinals for just the fifth time in school history.  The only previous championship match appearance was in 1997, a four-set loss against Cortland.

Buffalo State boasts a balanced offensive attack with four players totaling more than 200 kills each.  Sophomore Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) leads the charge with 298, followed by freshman Hannah Renaldo (N. Collins/N. Collins) (240), and Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) (236).  McLean also leads the way with 100 blocks.
Junior setter and 2011 first team All-SUNYAC selection Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) drives the offense with 977 assists, and also has a team-best 47 aces and has 433 digs. 

Anchoring the defense is junior libero and two-time All-Conference pick Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) who leads the league and has set a school single-season record with 756 digs.  She also holds the school's career digs record with 1,812.

Junior transfer Sarah Horvath (Blasdell/Immaculata) and freshman Kayla Pyc (Grand Island/Grand Island) add versatility to a deep Bengals' lineup.  Horvath had 224 kills, 40 aces and 439 digs.  Pyc is also an offensive threat with 164 kills and is second on the team with 79 blocks.

#3 East Play-In:  Oneonta vs. Potsdam – Noon
Quarterfinal: (#2 East) New Paltz vs. (#3 West) Oswego – 3 p.m.
Quarterfinal: (#2 West) Fredonia vs. (#3 East) – 6 p.m.

Saturday, November 3
Semifinal: (#1 West) Buffalo State vs. New Paltz/Oswego winner – 3 p.m.
Semifinal: (#1 East) Cortland vs. Fredonia/#3 East winner – 6 p.m.

Sunday, November 4
Championship – Noon

**Winner receives automatic berth into NCAA Playoffs**

Adult tickets will be $6 for each session and sold at the gate.  Students will be admitted free of charge.
