GENEVA, NY—Nationally No. 4 ranked Hobart (11-0-2) remained undefeated, netting two third-period goals including an empty-netter, to defeat visiting Buffalo State (4-7-1), 3-1, in a non-conference game this evening.
Each team netted power-play goals in the latter stages of the opening period. After the Statesmen took a 1-0 lead, the Bengals answered with
Anthony Orange's (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) first goal of the season, assisted by
Ben Kramer (Great Neck, NY/Great Neck South).
After neither team scored in the middle frame, Hobart finally broke the tie with just over eight minutes remaining in a penalty-free third period. The Statesmen added an empty-net tally in the final minute.
Hobart held a narrow 39-37 advantage in shots, as Buffalo State's
Kevin Carr (Uniondale, ON/Uniondale) registered 36 saves on the night.
Buffalo State will wrap up the first semester of play this Saturday with another non-conference game at Nazareth at 7 p.m.
