Men’s Basketball Roars Back to Steal Win at Potsdam, 85-84

Anyar Majak hit the game-winning bucket with just three seconds remaining
Box Score POTSDAM, NY— Anyar Majak's (Rochester/Jefferson) offensive rebound and put-back with three seconds left gave visiting Buffalo State (5-1/3-0) an 85-84 come-from-behind  victory over Potsdam (2-5/0-3) tonight in a SUNYAC contest.

Majak finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.  Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) paced the Bengals' offense again with 22 points and he added four assists.  Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) scored 20 points, moving just 40 points shy of Randy Smith's school record of 1,712 career points.  Ryan Carney (Olean/Olean) chipped in 15 points, and Anthony Hamer (Brooklyn/Bishop Laughlin) had 11 points and four assists.

Potsdam led by as many as 17 in the first half and held a 45-32 lead at the break.  Buffalo State took over in the second half and battled back to take the lead at 68-66 with 7:16 remaining.  The lead went back-and-forth, and the Bears hit three free throws to push ahead by one with just 10 seconds remaining.  Majak gave the Bengals the win, however, following up on a Simmons miss with just three ticks left on the clock.

Each team hit 10 3-pointers, but Buffalo State shot 44-percent from the field, while Potsdam connected on just 37-percent of its field goal attempts.

Buffalo State will play at Plattsburgh tomorrow at 4 p.m.
