CORTLAND, NY—Buffalo State (3-1) battled back to win its third-straight five-set match over Richard Stockton (3-1), but fell in the title game of the Cortland Classic in straight sets against the host Red Dragons (4-0).

Buffalo State rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Richard Stockton and advance to the title game, winning 15-25, 22-25, 25-23, 26-24 and 15-10.  Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) had a team-high 14 kills, while Sarah Horvath (Blasdell/Immaculata) had 12 kills, 13 digs and four aces.  Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) added 27 digs, and Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) had 35 assists and five aces. 

In the championship game, the Bengals fell 22-25, 16-25 and 23-25.  Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) led the way with 10 kills, and Horvath added nine kills and 14 digs.  Moore had 24 digs, and Bashore dished out 31 assists.

Moore and Horvath were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Buffalo State will open its home schedule on Tuesday against St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
