GENESEO, NY—Buffalo State (14-3/3-0) pushed its winning streak to eight and completed the opening round of SUNYAC Pool Play undefeated, defeated Oswego and Fredonia today at Geneseo.
Buffalo State cruised past Oswego, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-12 in the morning match.
Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) had a team-best 13 kills and three blocks, and
Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) had 25 assists and 12 digs.
Sarah Horvath (Blasdell/Immaculata) had four aces, five kills, while
Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) added 14 digs.
The Bengals topped Fredonia in four sets in the late match, winning 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 and 25-16. Parente paced the offense again, pounding out 15 kills. Moore had 32 digs, and Bashore had 35 assists, 11 digs and three blocks. Horvath chipped in seven kills, 16 digs and four blocks.
The Bengals finished the first half of the SUNYAC season with a perfect 3-0 mark. The second round SUNYAC West of Pool Play will be held at Fredonia on Oct. 19 and 20. The first-place team from the West after that weekend will earn the right to host the SUNYAC Championships on Nov. 2-4.
Buffalo State will next visit Hilbert on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.
