Women’s Volleyball Drops Franciscan, Falls Short Against Wooster

BEREA, Ohio—Buffalo State (6-3) ended up breaking even at the Marcia French Invitational hosted by Case Western and Baldwin-Wallace, sweeping Franciscan, before falling in five sets against Wooster today.

The Bengals blew past Franciscan in the morning match, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-17.  Freshman Kayla Pyc (Grand Island/Grand Island) paced the Bengals' attack with 10 kills and just one error.  Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) had 24 digs and three aces, and Hannah Santoro (Lancaster/Lancaster) had a team-high 14 assists.  Sherrell McLean (Buffalo/City Honors) added seven kills with no errors on 13 attempts.

Wooster outlasted Buffalo State in the late match, as the Bengals fell, 14-25, 29-27, 20-25, 25-23 and 9-14.  Hannah Renaldo (N. Collins/N. Collins) and Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) had 12 kills each for Buffalo State.  Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) dished out 35 assists and had 22 digs, while Sarah Horvath (Blasdell/Immaculata) had seven kills, 17 digs and three aces.

Renaldo represented Buffalo State on the All-Invitational Team.

Buffalo State will next play at the University of Rochester on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
