Trevor McKinney (Oakwood, ON/Sinclair) had a goal and three assists as Buffalo State (8-7-2) dominated Johnson & Wales (6-10) and completed the weekend sweep, winning 5-1, in a penalty-ridden non-conference game this afternoon at the Ice Arena.
Matt Bessing (Elma, NY/Cheektowaga) finished with a goal and an assist, while
Shane Avery (Fort Covington, NY/Salmon River),
Mac Balson (Lakefield, ON/Adam Scott CVI) and
Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) also scored for the Bengals.
Anthony Orange (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield South) chipped in three helpers.
Bessing scored the game's first goal at 5:27 of the opening period and the Bengals added two power-play markers in the second stanza, including Zannella's team-leading 13th goal of the season. Buffalo State continued to pepper the Wildcats net and added two more even-strength goals in the final stanza, before Johnson & Wales scored with the man advantage at 18:08 to ruin the shutout.
Buffalo State outshot the Wildcats, 32-24, and
Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 23 saves in the win.
The Bengals are 5-0-1 in their last six games and will return to action on Friday when they travel to Brockport for a SUNYAC game at 7 p.m.
