NEW PALTZ, NY—Buffalo State (17-7/5-1) suffered its first SUNYAC regular season loss in two seasons today, falling in four sets to host New Paltz (19-5/5-0), but then bounced back to defeat Brockport (8-14/0-6)in straight sets.
In the morning match, Buffalo State's school-record 11-match winning streak came to an end at the hands of host New Patlz. After dropping the first two sets, the Bengals regrouped and began to mount a comeback, but could not push through in the fourth set, falling 22-25, 14-25, 25-21 and 24-26. Kayla Pyc (Grand Island/Grand Island) led Buffalo State with 10 kills and added three blocks. Samantha Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) had eight kills and four blocks. Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) had 31 assists and 21 digs, and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) added 23 digs and two aces.
The Bengals swept Brockport in the afternoon match, winning 25-12, 28-26 and 25-11. Parente's 14 kills led Buffalo State's attack, while Jessica Crooks (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) added 10 kills. Bashore had 30 assists to go with 11 digs, and Moore had 17 digs.
Buffalo State will host Nazareth in a non-conference match on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
