Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Cortland, Oswego to Close SUNYAC Regular Season

Kelsey Bashore had 54 assists in two straight-set wins today
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (21-8/8-1) rolled to a pair of straight-set victories over visiting Cortland (14-17/4-5) and Oswego (19-13/2-7) to close out the SUNYAC regular season today and secure the No. 2 seed in the conference playoffs.

The Bengals defeated Cortland, 25-12, 25-19 and 25-22 in the opening match. Samantha Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) paced the Bengals offense with 13 kills, and Hannah Renaldo (N. Collins/N. Collins) added 11. Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) had 31 assists and 12 digs, while Sarah Horvath (Blasdell/Immaculata) added seven kills and 12 digs, and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) added 14 digs.

In the late match, Buffalo State cruised past Oswego, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-16. Bashore finished with 23 assists, 10 digs, seven kills and three blocks. Jessica Crooks (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) chipped in seven kills, and Kayla Pyc (Grand Island/Grand Island) had six kills and four blocks.

Buffalo State will travel to Washington University in St. Louis for a tournament next Friday and Saturday. By earning the second seed in the SUNYAC playoffs, the Bengals will receive a bye into the semifinals against the winner of No. 3 Fredonia/No. 6 Cortland on Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at New Paltz.
