Men’s Basketball Drops St. John Fisher in Season Opener, 67-59

Roderick Epps led Buffalo State with 15 points
Box Score ROCHESTER, NY—Buffalo State (1-0) forced 17 turnovers and locked down St. John Fisher's (0-1) shooters to post a 67-59 victory on the road tonight in a non-conference contest to open the season.  It was just the second time in the past 50 games the Bengals have held an opponent under 60 points.

Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) paced Buffalo State's offense with 15 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.  Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) added 12 points and had three blocks, and Bradley Doyley (Brooklyn/Sports Management HS) added 10 points and three boards.  Freshman Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joe's) chipped in nine points on 3 of 4 shooting, all from beyond the arc.

Buffalo State led 29-27 at halftime, but St. John Fisher pulled ahead early in the second half and lead by as many as five.  With the Cardinals up 48-44 with 10 minutes remaining, the Bengals used a 10-0 run to take a lead it would never surrender.  Buffalo State shot 44-percent from the field and committed just nine turnovers.  The Cardinals hit just 37-percent of their field goal attempts and shot 21-percent (4 of 19) from long range.

Buffalo State will play another non-conference game at Medaille on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
