Box Score BUFFALO, NY— Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Buffalo State (2-0) assembled a 16-0 run in the second half to pull away from host Medaille (1-1) and held on to claim an 87-82 non-conference victory tonight at the Sullivan Center.

Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) poured in 18 points for the Bengals, and Bradley Doyley (Brooklyn/Sports Management HS) added 16 points and five assists. Legree Kirkland (New York/Frederick Douglas VII) also scored in double-figures with 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

After leading 36-35 at halftime, Buffalo State found itself trailing 62-59 with nine minutes remaining. Maurice Miles (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) evened the score with a 3-pointer, and a layup by Epps seconds later gave the Bengals a lead they would never relinquish. The Bengals pushed the lead to 75-62 with the extended run and held off the Mavericks down the stretch to claim the win.

Buffalo State shot 49-percent from the field and 46-percent (6 of 13) from long range. Medaille hit 43-percent of its field goal attempts, but shot just 22-percent (4 of 18) from beyond the arc. The Bengals scored 28 points off the bench, compared to 14 by Medaille's reserves.

Buffalo State will host the Coles Classic this weekend and will open against Ohio Northern on Friday at 8 p.m.
