No. 4 Oswego Edges Men’s Hockey, 3-2

Kevin Carr made 50 saves in the loss
Box Score OSWEGO, NY—A pair of freshmen scored for Buffalo State (1-1/1-1), but it was not enough as No. 4-ranked Oswego (1-1/1-1) held on for a 3-2 victory in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Campus Center Arena.

The teams traded first-period goals with Oswego opening the scoring just 5:19 into the contest, but the Bengals answered just over three minutes later with freshman Adam Rossi (Surrey, BC/Burnsview) netting his second goal in as many games.

The second period appeared to be following a similar script with Oswego pulling ahead midway through the frame with a power-play marker. Buffalo State evened the score just under three minutes later when freshman Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter) netted his first collegiate goal over the glove of the Lakers' goalie. Oswego pulled ahead 3-2 just 53 seconds later, however. The Bengals appeared to tie the game in the closing minutes of the frame, but it was ruled that the Buffalo State player kicked the puck into the net.

Oswego controlled the bulk of play in a scoreless third period and held on for the victory. The Lakers finished with a 53-26 advantage in shots on goal. Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) was credited with 50 saves for Buffalo State.

Buffalo State will play two more road SUNYAC games next weekend when it visits Morrisville State for a Friday-Saturday set.
