Shane Avery scored for Buffalo State in the first period
Box Score PROVIDENCE, RI— Buffalo State (5-5-3) had 56 minutes in penalties, including 42 in the second period, and the Bengals dropped a 2-1 decision at Johnson & Wales (9-3) for the second time in as many days in a non-conference game this afternoon.

Shane Avery (Fort Covington, NY/Salmon River) put Buffalo State on the scoreboard first scoring in the opening stanza with an assist by Ryan Salkeld (Suffolk, VA/Churchland). The Wildcats responded with a pair of power-play goals in the second period, however, and neither team would score again.

The Wildcats finished 2 for 9 on the power play, and Buffalo State was 0 for 5. Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 34 saves in the loss for the Bengals.

Buffalo State will next host nationally-ranked Adrian on Friday, Jan. 3.
