Box Score PROVIDENCE, RI— Buffalo State (5-5-3) had 56 minutes in penalties, including 42 in the second period, and the Bengals dropped a 2-1 decision at Johnson & Wales (9-3) for the second time in as many days in a non-conference game this afternoon.
Shane Avery (Fort Covington, NY/Salmon River) put Buffalo State on the scoreboard first scoring in the opening stanza with an assist by
Ryan Salkeld (Suffolk, VA/Churchland). The Wildcats responded with a pair of power-play goals in the second period, however, and neither team would score again.
Johnson & Wales held a 36-20 advantage in shots, including a commanding 23-5 edge in the second period, aided by seven power plays, including a pair of five-minute majors in the frame. The Wildcats finished 2 for 9 on the power play, and Buffalo State was 0 for 5.
Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) made 34 saves in the loss for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will next host nationally-ranked Adrian on Friday, Jan. 3.
